Testing and trials - S.A.E.T. Srl

Comprehensive checks for high-performance, safe and reliable electronic devices.

TESTED TO BE RELIABLE

SAET accompanies each stage of the production cycle with an advanced and integrated testing system. Automatic optical inspections, parametric and functional tests ensure that electronic boards are fully compliant with the required quality standards, with a design-tailored approach.

Three-Dimensional Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI-3D)

TIMELY CONTROL, MAXIMUM RELIABILITY.

Automatic optical inspection (AOI) is a crucial step in ensuring the integrity of electronic boards after SMT assembly. At SAET, thanks to a long experience in the sector, we use dedicated systems for image acquisition and management, which allow us to promptly detect any assembly or soldering defects before electrical testing.
The AOI operating principle is based on the acquisition of images via a very high definition camera, combined with an annular illumination system that emits flashes with different wavelengths in sequence. The acquired images are compared with those stored in the library: if non-compliance is detected, a specialized operator analyzes the report and communicates the problem to the relevant department within SAET for subsequent analysis and corrective actions to the production process.

The inspection is carried out by qualified personnel using state-of-the-art equipment, such as the Pemtron 8800HSL, which analyzes 100% of the components and solder joints on all produced boards. Alongside the AOI, spot checks are carried out with a lens and microscope, useful for identifying defects that the machine cannot recognize. All verifications take place quickly, without compromising the production cycle times.

Parametric Testing

DETAILED CONTROL, CERTIFIED RELIABILITY.

Parametric testing represents a fundamental phase to ensure the correct functioning of the assembled electronic boards. At SAET, this activity follows the design, assembly and eventual automatic optical inspection, ensuring that each device fully complies with the specifications of the order.
Thanks to a targeted screening strategy, we are able to detect and eliminate defects before they could lead to systematic failures that could compromise product durability and quality. Each board undergoes different types of tests, with specific feedback at each stage, to accurately verify the integrity and functionality of individual components.
In-circuit tests, strength, continuity and capacity tests, thermal stress analysis and customized functional tests are performed in our multifunctional testing system. The flexibility of our department, combined with an advanced Spea machine fleet, allows us to operate on both small and large series with high accuracy, reduced lead times, and full customization.

Functional testing

THE FINAL CHECK, COMPLETE SAFETY.

Functional testing is the only method capable of certifying the proper operation of an electronic system, verifying not only its assembly but also its actual performance under operational conditions. At SAET, it represents the final stage of the production line, following optical inspection and parametric testing, and is tailored according to the intended use of the board. Through dedicated tests, designed according to the specific requirements of the order, we realistically simulate both the functional behaviour of the device and the environmental conditions in which it will be used. This approach allows us to verify its reliability, power and versatility.
Our ATE systems are general-purpose, flexible, and modular: through internally made mechanical fixtures connected to our own TS800 design and implementation, we test the behaviors and analog, digital, high- or low-frequency parameters of various types of boards. This allows us to efficiently handle even the most complex applications in the automotive, medical, avionics, and military sectors.
